11 Cityscapes To Inspire Travel

by Suhail on August 3, 2010 · Adventure, Badass, Inspiration, Lifestyle Design, Travel

If you’re looking for an excuse to travel to an urban environment full of activity and exotic customs, well then you’ve definitely come to the right place. Come one, come all – bask in the breathtaking beauty of the city landscapes that have been photographed and spread throughout the Flickr world.

Without further ado, here are 11 cityscapes that will hopefully spring you off your feet and whisk you onto a magical flight that will take your imagination to wondrous lands that do exist on this very world of ours.

Maybe 11 photos is too little of a sampling to tease your travel neurons into springboarding your very boring existence to a far and fantastic city. For that very reason, I’m asking you to take your time with these photos. Don’t sift through them, like you would a stack of glossy photos of last night’s otherwise hazy memory of a party.

Scroll Slowly, Stop & Stare, Survey & Engage. Take your time. These picture are awesome, and if you don’t think so, maybe you need to get out of the small microcosm of a place you call your “comfort zone” and I call your “couch.” A little tough love goes a long way.

Barcelona

Drivers in Barcelona are considered among the worst in the world, with accidents occurring in the city every nineteen seconds! Walking we shall go!

Dubrovnic Old Town

The annual Dubrovnik Summer Festival is a two month-long cultural event with live plays, concerts, and games. Some of the "must see" attractions of this Croatian tourist destination is the Franciscan Monastery, Big Onofrio's Fountain, and Rector's Palace.

Love On Tehran's Roof

Excavations of Tehran show that this area was home to civilisations as far back as 6,000 years BC. Iran has a titillating ancient history: It served as a village to a small population until the Shah of Iran, from 1524 – 1576, fell in love with the region. How romantic!

Amsterdam, The Venice Of Northern Europe

Amsterdam has over 300 coffee shops which can legally sell up to 5 grams of soft drugs to each person. Now that's a fun fact!

Delhi From A Riskshaw

Delhi offers a refreshing blend of traditional and modern elements forming an interesting cityscape of contradictions. In fact, Delhi is divided into two parts. Old Delhi, built in the 17th century by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and South Delhi, a new, posh district with broad boulevards and spacious bungalows.

Hong Kong

A bun festival is organized on Cheung Chau Island, between April and May, every year. It is intended to appease the hungry ghosts roaming around the island. I think I might have a bun festival of my own, if you know what I mean...

Old San Juan

More tourists visit San Juan each year than any other spot in the Caribbean. A foot tour is encouraged for those who want to experience this Old World, especially given the narrow streets and frequently heavy traffic.

Seattle In Motion

From it's fantastic cityscape to it's picturesque location, nestled between two magnificent mountain ranges, with a breathtaking view of a lake and bay, Seattle is easily one of most beautiful cities in America. Well, that's subjective, but Seattle does have a Revolving Cafe at the top of the Space Needle! OoOoO, Ahhhh

Venice

There’s no better way to explore Venice than to get lost and become enamored with the winding waterways and canvas-worthy architecture.

Sao Paolo

Sao Paulo is home to the largest Japanese community outside of Japan. Not many places can claim that kind of diversity. This colorful cityscape offers a European getaway in the heart of Brazil's finance and arts culture.

Lisbon

Speaking of Portuguese, Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, was first settled by the Phoenicians, who called the city Alis Ubbo, which means "delightful shore." In 1994, Lisbon was named European City of Culture. I think the Phoenicians got it right the first time. Delightful indeed.

Hope you enjoyed this showcase of cityscapes for digital nomads, tourists, travelers, and dreamers alike. Maybe now you can get off that couch, and book a plane ticket to your next destination!

I suggest Hotels Combined, as I am an affiliate for the website. It’s pretty awesome just to search for deals even if you’re not going anywhere in the near future.

Only been to one of the above.
Venice is truly beautiful and unique. Steep history, art, and culture, I highly recommend visiting Venice at some point in your lifetime!
While your at it, check out the Alps — not a cityscape, but a must.
